The Learning Center Colorado believes in:
HOW DID WE GET HERE?
Our founder wanted to design a creative, open, warm space for homeschool families to come to. Often times, homeschool groups need to occupy church rooms or church basements where they have to set up folding chairs with blank walls. While grateful for those spaces, our founder felt passionately that something else was needed.
She envisioned an inspiring space where kids can be free to explore and create what they want. A place where parents can learn alongside their children. These were the driving desires behind TLC Colorado.
WHO ARE WE?
TLC is a family Makerspace and community workshop based in Kittredge, Colorado. We offer interest-led programs that welcome exploration, self-discovery, and play. We are home to one of Colorado’s first Makerspaces for kids!
WHAT IS A MAKERSPACE?
Makerspaces are creative, DIY spaces where people can gather to create, invent and learn. We offer a collection of tools and an environment that enables making. We have always been a space where kids create and tinker and take things apart. We are looking forward to continuing to attract curious, like-minded kids and adults!
We are nestled in the heart of Kittredge’s business district. Bear Creek runs through our back yard and a beautiful meadow offers opportunities for outside play and learning. Our kids have chosen paint colors for our walls. Come and visit us and see how our MakerSpace is coming together!
WHY A MAKERSPACE?
“The Maker movement exemplifies the kind of passion and personal motivation that inspire innovation. We can engage students as makers who learn how to use tools and processes to help them reach their own goals and realize their own ideas.” MakerSpace Playbook 2013
